Welcome to the land of high-fructose corn syrup and caffeine!
It’s a perfect storm of chemicals to induce a highly unnatural energy high.
Sodas like Coca-Cola are highly addicting because they induce a surge of
feel-good energy and overload of sweetness. Let’s not forget that these sodas
contain far more than your RDA of sugar at 200 calories a pop! Drink one, crave
more. Over the long term, this helpless cycle of high consumption leads to
obesity and physical and mental disease. Opt for more natural options without
caffeine and high-fructose corn syrup, or try a refreshing glass of coconut water or fruit infused seltzer.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 12pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">White bread</span></b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">.
White bread is pure, high GI sugar. There is little fiber to slow down its
absorption into the bloodstream, so you’ll be on a little feel-good sugar high
for a bit. Unfortunately, once the body is on a high, it wants more of it, so
you eat more and more of those tasty dinner rolls in a perpetual urge for
satisfaction. All the while, you’ll be expanding your waistline and spoiling
your healthy dinner. Go for whole grains and remember that wheat is not the
only grain out there. Try quinoa, spelt or millet in your weekly loaf.</span></div>

These 2 iterations of fried potatoes go hand in hand. Salty,
greasy, and loaded with high glycemic carbs, fried white potato is a hard habit
to break. But, perhaps thinking about it in these terms will help: The same
gene group that regulates your salt appetite </span><a href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110711151451.htm" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0c739e; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">actually regulates cocaine addiction</span></a><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">. Save traditional chips and fries for
special occasions, and instead go for baked vibrant sweet potatoes paired with
protein for a richer antioxidant profile and a lower GI.</span></div>

If you are in the habit of buying a couple of pints of ice cream at the
supermarket every week, it might be time to quit that habit. Most supermarket
brands are loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, low quality dairy ingredients,
and are lacking in flavor. With all of the sugar in these cartons, it is far
too easy to eat more than the recommended half cup serving. Save ice cream as a
treat from your favorite local shop, or, even more exciting, try making your
own. Some stand mixers have ice cream-maker attachments that work wonders.

those addictions. The inner labyrinth of the supermarket is loaded with these
deceptive delights. Avoid them, and try to cut high-fructose corn syrup and
highly refined carbs from your diet completely. You’ll soon notice your
incessant, insatiable cravings diminish. Plus, you’ll feel great by turning to
pure, whole foods in their stead.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">With the almond milk industry skyrocketing, it seems as though
more and more people have made almonds their non-dairy, plant-based milk of
choice. It’s quite understandable. Almond milk has a terrific nutty flavor that
beats rice and hemp; it doesn’t bear the negative phytoestrogen stigma of
soybeans, and it isn’t remotely as calorie dense as coconut milk. What’s not to
love? A lot, apparently.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 12pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">According

“a jug of filtered water clouded by a handful of ground almonds.” This is an
issue on two levels.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 12pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">1) Overpriced</span></b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">.
Commercial almond milk is grossly overpriced for how few nutrients are actually
inside. In Philpott’s estimates, an entire 48 oz. jug of almond milk contains
the same amount of protein as a 1 ounce handful of whole almonds, while costing
6 to 10 times more (assuming the almonds cost between 39 and 66 cents an ounce,
versus $4 for a jug of nut milk)! So if there is a 1 ounce protein equivalent
of almonds in a jug, what else are you paying for? Extra additives like potentially
inflammatory carrageenan, preservatives, and hidden sugars. No thanks.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

That is an
extraordinary amount of water for one single nut, not to mention </span><a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/16/magazine/16wwln-lede-t.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0c739e; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">the impact that the immense monocultures of almond farming
operations have on the bees</span></a><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">.
And after all of that, we just blend and strain these little miracle nuts in
more water? Since almonds are tiny nutritional powerhouses, it does seem
wasteful to buy commercial almond milk, especially as you don’t know what they
do with the “waste” meal, aka the actual nutritious almond meat.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 12pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">So,
what’s a smart way to get your almond milk fix? </span><a href="http://www.care2.com/greenliving/milk-alternatives-recipes.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0c739e; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">Make it at home.</span></a><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Drink the superior, freshly made milk, and use the tasty almond

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 12pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Try
to respect your food. Consider how much work went into cultivating that plant,
and how far it had to travel to get to your table. Enjoy your entire almond,
because almonds are a divine delicacy, even if they are a part of your
day-to-day life. If you want to make almond milk, more power to you, but be
sure to use the entire nut; otherwise, you’re robbing yourself of precious
nutrients, your wallet of precious greenery, and the Earth of precious
resources.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br />
There are dozens of methods for making milk alternatives. Some call for the
soaking, blanching, and peeling of nuts, some don’t. Some are straightforward,
some are more complicated. Raw nuts are often specified to meet the needs of
people who prefer raw food, but cooked nuts work just as well. Sweeteners are a
big issue here. Agave nectar is a wonderful alternative to honey because it is
low on the glycemic index and is vegan—but can be hard to find. Honey and pure maple
syrup are good alternatives to processed sugar. Pitted dates and banana can be
used to sweeten as well as to create a thicker texture. I suggest playing
around with the recipes here (and the different sweeteners) until you find the
perfect fit for your needs. All of these milks need to be refrigerated, and
should keep for at least 2 days.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

Hemp milk contains 33 percent protein and Canadian studies point to hemp
protein as being the highest quality found in any plant. Hemp also offers
well-balanced essential fatty acids that our bodies require and don’t make
themselves. The key for making quick and easy hemp milk is to buy shelled hemp
seeds. I called four local natural food stores and all carried shelled hemp
seeds, so it is easy to go this route. Otherwise you have to take extra
measures to strain out the shells. Check the dates on your seeds to make sure
that you buy the freshest seeds possible. Store in a dark place. Sunlight will
destroy the oils’ benefits and make the seeds rancid.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

heat quite like a fresh scoop of ice cream. But, if you are lactose intolerant
or trying to abide by a healthier lifestyle, a churned mash of refined sugar

healthy foods that actually taste like ice cream<br />

Commonly known as “one-ingredient ice cream,” frozen bananas, when thrown into
a food processor, develop the thick, creamy consistency of soft serve ice
cream. Toss in a little cocoa powder and nut butter to combine with the
banana’s inherent sweetness to create a crazy delicious and healthy peanut
butter cup “ice cream” treat. It’s a treat that both the intolerant and
steadfast <i>ice-cream-o-philes</i> will adore.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

If you are lactose intolerant, frozen coconut milk mimics traditional ice cream
beautifully. You could even pop coconut cream into an ice cream maker along
with additional flavorings and get similar results as you would with cream,
except for the wonderful addition of a light coconut flavor. Plus, the healthy
fats in coconut milk are known to assist with weight loss and metabolism. Eat ice
cream and keep a trim tummy? Yes, please!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Or, really any berries for that matter. Pop a cup of frozen berries in the
blender with a little greek yogurt and raw honey and <em><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">viola </span></em>– a healthy and
refreshing treat! Realistically, this is more of a frozen yogurt than ice
cream, but hey, it’s creamy and cold and full of berries! Who cares?<o:p></o:p></span><br />

to coconut milk, soaked cashews, when blended with water, create a naturally
sweet cream. For a basic icy alternative, blend it with soaked dates/maple
syrup and vanilla, freeze, stirring occasionally, and you’ve got yourself a
plant-based ice cream that tastes absolutely delicious. Or, perhaps more
easily, pop it all into the food processor with frozen fruit to make creamy
soft serve.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

read correctly. All it takes is a little kale, soaked cashews, frozen bananas,
dates, vanilla, and ginger. Stuff it all in your favorite blender and watch the
miracle ensue! How healthy and delicious does that sound? Still continuing with Titles of Jesus from Fr. Mike Scanlan's book.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
HEAD OF THE CHURCH: Scripture: Ephesians 5:23 <em>Christ is the head of the Church, His body, and is Himself its Savior...And He is the head of the body, the Church (Col 1:8).</em> Key Thought: As our physical bodies follow the directions of our heads which control all our actions, so Jesus, as the Head of His body, the Church, should direct and lead all its members. My Thought: We need to look up to Jesus as Our Lord and Savior because he is to make all the rules and regulations in our own family.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
HOPE OF GLORY: Scripture: Colossians 1:7 <em>To them God willed to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of the mystery which is Christ in you, the hope of glory</em>. Key Thought: We want many things, but, in particular, eternal happiness. In Christ we can confidently hope for this Glory. My Thought: I love the word <em>riches</em> because it allows us to have all kinds of spiritual happiness even though we may not be rich in material or physical matters.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I AM: Scripture: John 8:58 <em>"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am." </em> Key Thought: The Word of God, the Son took on human nature and became man. But the Word, the Son was from the Beginning, for He is God. Therefore His existence has always been and is not subject to time. My Thought: Moses asked God Who He was, and God replied I AM with big capital letters. More titles of Jesus are in my poem, "Carrying the Cross", page 147, from <u>Small White Hearts.</u> </div>

<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>There'd be NO
United States of America.</b><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span><b><br /></b><b><span style="font-size: 24pt;"><br />THE FINAL INSPECTION</span></b><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span><b><br />The Soldier stood and faced
God,<br />Which must always come to pass.<br />He hoped his shoes were
shining,<br />Just as brightly as his brass.</b> </div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>'Step forward now,
Soldier,<br />How shall I deal with you?<br />Have you always turned the other
cheek?<br />To My Church have you been true?'</b><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span><b><br />The soldier squared his shoulders and
said,<br />'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.<br />Because those of us who carry
guns,<br />Can't always be a saint.</b></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>I've had to work
most Sundays,<br />And at times my talk was tough.<br />And sometimes I've been
violent,<br />Because the world is awfully rough.</b></div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b><br />But, I never took a
penny,<br />That wasn't mine to keep.<br />Though I worked a lot of
overtime,<br />When the bills just got too steep.</b><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span><b><br />And I never passed a cry for
help,<br />Though at times I shook with fear.<br />And sometimes, God, forgive
me,<br />I've wept unmanly tears.</b><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span><b><br />I know I don't deserve a
place,<br />Among the people here.<br />They never wanted me around,<br />Except to
calm their fears</b></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>If you've a place
for me here, Lord,<br />It needn't be so grand.<br />I never expected or had too
much,<br />But if you don't, I'll understand.</b></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>There was a
silence all around the Throne,<br />Where the saints had often trod.<br />As the
Soldier waited quietly,<br />For the judgment of his God.</b></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<b>'Step forward now,
you Soldier,<br />You've borne your burdens well.<br />Walk peacefully on Heaven's
streets,<br />You've done your time in Hell.'</b></div>

Still more names for Our beautiful Lord Jesus from Fr. Mike Scanlan's book <u>Titles of Jesus. </u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
FIRST-BORN OF THE DEAD: Scripture: Colossians 1:18 <em>And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the first-born of the dead, so that in all things He might be preeminent.</em> Key Thought: Through sin we all died. We did not have eternal life. Jesus became man and joined human nature to eternal life. He died and rose from the dead so that we, too, can be born again. My Thought: This is very difficult to comprehend. Jesus told Nicodemas he must change and make his entire spiritual life vibrant. Those of you who have my book, read Nicodemos and the Blind Man, page 41 and my poem Nicky and the Blind Man, page 155. <br />
<br />
GOOD SHEPHERD: Scripture: John 10:11-14 <em>I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep...I am the good shepherd I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep.</em> Key Thought: Jesus cares for us as a good shepherd who is willing to die to save one of his sheep. Jesus did die for us and He won't abandon us now. We can know Him and be at peace in His care. My Thought: Fr. Joe Rodriques said the shepherd at night would put himself in the pen and lay down in front of the gate. The sheep felt more protected by that action. Makes sense.<br />
<br />
GREAT HIGH PRIEST: Scripture: Hebrews 4:14. <em>Therefore since we have a great high priest having gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we possess</em>. Key Thought: Priests are called to stand as mediators between God and His people offering sacrifices to God on behalf of the people. Jesus is the Great High Priest who offered the sacrifice of His life for us and continues to offer that sacrifice in intercession for us. My Thought: Song on Christian radio right now playing is about all the things we believe, similar to our Nicene Creed. Yes, He is the One we need to put all our trust and faith in. </div>

We have gotten to the letter E in our book of <u>Titles for Jesus</u> by Fr. Mike Scanlan. I was reading a book on <u>Things Jesus Did</u> and it was parallel to this book. I wish I had more time to write my blog but my day is filled with great stuff witnessing for Him and right now working on The Trinity Times, a newsletter that is being revived at my church, Most Holy Trinity. I will share progress we are making in that area later.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
ETERNAL LIFE: Scripture 1 John 5:20 <em>This is the true God and eternal life.</em> Key Thought: Our relationships with others can enhance our life, but only one, Jesus Christ is eternal life. My Thought: Something that is temporary disappears in a second. I have a friend who smokes often in my presence and I try to avoid the smell yet it clings to my clothes and hair. I have smelled the sweetness of Our Lord and Our Lady when I have been in prayer or often when I am taking hosts from the Tabernacle at St, Mary's Hospital Chapel to bring to the patients. Difficult to explain. Do you wonder what the flowers in Heaven will be like? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
FAITHFUL AND TRUE: Scripture: Revelations 19:11 <em>I saw the Heavens opened, and I beheld a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.</em> Key Thought: In our lives we deal constantly with our failure to be faithful to our commitments. We wrestle with our compromises, our exaggerations, and our misleadings. Jesus, however, was totaly faithful to the Father and absolutely filled with truth in all He said and did. My Thought: May I be totally faithful to my spiritual life that occupies my time 24/7. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
FAITHFUL WITNESS: Scripture: Revelations 1:4-5 <em>Grace to you and peace from Him Who IS and Who WAS and Who IS to come, and from the seven spirits before His Throne, and from Jesus Christ, Who IS the faithful witness.</em> Key Thought: Jesus gave witness to Who God is and to God's plan for our salvation. He is absolutely faithful in what He witnesses and He is totally trustworthy. We can stake our lives on these truths. My Thought: You can bet I was the one who put so many caps on all those words that mean Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They rule my life!!</div>

We are at the letter E of Fr. Scanlan's book on Titles of Jesus. I love the word eternal because it means we will have the Trinity with us forever.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
ETERNAL LIFE: Scripture: 1 John 5:20 <em>This is the true God and eternal life.</em> Key Thought: Our relationships with others can enhance our life, but only one, Jesus Christ, is eternal life for us. My Thought: Eternal means Their love will never end no matter how many times we mess up. We are forgiven.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
FAITHFUL AND TRUE: Scripture: Revelations 19:11 <em>I saw the heavens opened and, I beheld a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. </em>Key Thought: In our lives we deal constantly with our failure to our commitments. We wrestle with our compromises, our exagerations, and our misleadings. Jesus, however, was totally faithful to the Father and absolutely filled with truth in all He said or did. My Thought: Fr. Jim Hobert at Sacred Heart Church did a wonderful bible study on Revelations. He made me picture all the visions in the book. I can still see that image of Jesus sitting on that white horse. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
FAITHFUL WITNESS: Scripture: Revelations 1:4-5 <em>Grace to you and peace from Him Who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before His throne, and from Jesus Christ , who is the faithful witness. </em> Key Thought: Jesus gave witness to who God is and to God's plan for our salvation. He is absolutely faithful in what He witnesses and He is totally trustworthy. My Thought: Who can I witness to today who needs a spiritual revival in her/his life? </div>

Still pulling names from Fr. Scanlan's book <u>Titles of Jesus</u>. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
DAYSTAR: Scripture: 2 Peter 1:19 <em>We have the prophetic word made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the daystar rises in your hearts. </em> Key Thought: Matthew 2:2 tells us that the magi saw <em>"His star in the East and have come to worship Him."</em> The star of Jesus led them to our guiding star to lead us as children of the light. My Thought: In the last house I had, my bed was situated so the morning sun came up and I watched many a sunrise. Our Lord and I had glorious conversations there. Several of them are in my book <u>Small White Hearts</u>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
DELIVERER: Scripture: Romans 11:26 <em>And so all Israel will be saved as it is written: "The Deliverer will come from Zion. He will banish godlessness from Jacob."</em> Key Thought: We were in bondage to sin having no merit of our own. Jesus delivered us from this bondage. My Thought: A deliverer comes to our rescue, he saves us and redeems us. We are then liberated and can more easily surrender. Jesus is our salvation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
EMMANUEL: Scripture: Matthew 1:23 <em>The virgin will be with child and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Emmanuel, a name which means God is with us. </em> Key Thought: Our security should not depend on our having money, job, reputation or influential friends, but rather on having God with us. He who is with God triumphs and lives forever in God's glory. My Thought: I have seen that shekinah glory many times when I get into really deep prayer. It is powerful. Ask for it.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
CHIEF CORNERSTONE: Scripture: Ephesians 2:19-21 <em>Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself being the chief cornerstone</em>. Key Thought: Christians are not to be drifters following this or that person in this or that place. We are part of God's family, God's household, which is firmly placed and rooted in Christ Jesus as the cornerstone upon which everything is built. My Thought: A beautiful song by the title of I Lay in Zion a Foundation of Stone is running through my head. Catchy lyrics.<br />
<br />
CHIEF SHEPHERD: Scripture: 1 Peter 5:4<em> And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of Glory. </em>Key Thought: Many are called to pastor and shepherd God's people but above all is the Chief Shepherd who guides the pastors in their care for His people. My Thought: I love the many pastors who have guided me and prodded me along in my journey of faith. Who are yours? Which one stands out most? Where is he now? <br />
<br />
CHRIST: Scripture: John 1:41<em> Andrew first found his brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah," which means the Christ</em>. Key Thought: Christ means "the anointed one". Andrew concludes that Jesus is the anointed one of God, anointed to save the people. He boldly announces this good news of discovery. My Thought: At prayer meetings we use blessed oil to anoint people when praying over them. This is not a sacramental oil but people feel strong healing waves go over them as we pray.<br />
<br />

This is a continuation of the last blog on the<u> Titles of Jesus</u>, a book written by Fr. Mike Scanlan. He is a priest who has spoken at many conferences that I have attended. His talks are always Holy Spirit filled. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
BLESSED AND ONLY RULER: Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:14-16 <em>I charge you to keep this commandment unstained and blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time. God, the blessed and only ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords alone is immortal and lives in unapproachable light, Jesus, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen </em>Key Thought: Jesus has been given all authority. He is, over all the rulers of the earth, blessed by God's authority. He can come and take full dominion at any time. My Thought: When we were studying Genesis, the sacrifice Abraham had to make was a lamb pure, unblemished, holy, perfect like our Lamb Jesus.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
BREAD OF LIFE: Scripture: John 6:35 <em>Then Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life."</em> Key Thought: If we are to be spiritually alive, we are to be nourished by Jesus and His Word. My Thought: If this was written in my book, I would have capitalized all those words and the AM because He is the one and only. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
CAPTAIN OF SALVATION: Scripture: Hebrews 2:10 <em>In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God for whom and through whom everything exists, to perfect through suffering the captain of their salvation.</em> Key Thought: Jesus not only won salvation for us but is the captain of all who follow as His disciples. He has led the way and continues to intercede at the right hand of the Father for all His followers. My Thought: Who did I bring a word of salvation to this week? Who needed to hear the Word? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I went to the hospital last Saturday to volunteer as Eucharistic Minister, a man was sitting in the chapel near the Tabernacle. I put my hosts into my pyx then asked him if he would like to receive Communion. He said yes and we said an Our Father. Then I gave him Communion. When I finished my rounds, he was still sitting in the chapel and I acknowledged his presence. We had mass after that but the man did not stay for it. When I left the hospital, he was sitting outside so I started a conversation with him. He wanted to get a cup of coffee in the cafeteria. I gave him a free coupon that was given to me for volunteering. I also gave him $3.00 to get something to eat. I asked his name and he said Jose. Of course, I knew that was his name because Our Lord always puts me in connection with someone by that name so I can pray for my favorite priest, Fr. Joe. I told him I have many relatives by the name Jose. He told me I was very kind to him. Just doing what Jesus asks us to do!!! My blessing as well as his and His! </div>

Last blog, I was talking about a book by Fr. Mike Scanlan called <u>Titles of Jesus</u>. Here is a continuation of a few more. The name is given then the scripture verse then a key thought followed by my thoughts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH: Scripture Hebrews 12:2 <em>Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith Who for the joy set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.</em> Key Thought: We would never be Christians with Christian faith but for Jesus Who first lived as the Father calls us to live. He showed us how to start and how to finish our life with God. My Thought: I mentioned in my book <u>Small White Hearts</u>, page 131, how I often feel Jesus holding my left hand - often during the Our Father during mass - and someone else holding my right hand. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
AUTHOR OF LIFE: Scripture Acts 3:15 <em>You killed the Author of Life but God raised Him from the dead. To this we are witnesses.</em> Key Thought: An author brings something into existence. Jesus, as Author of Life, brings into existence for us eternal life with God. He frees us from the sentence of death and offers us life. My Thought: Did I as an author bring Jesus as a living being to my readers inside their hearts?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
THE BEGINNING AND THE END (The Alpha and the Omega/The First and the Last): Scripture Revelations 22:13 <em>I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.</em> Key Thought: All good begins and ends with Jesus. <em>"In the beginning was the Word"</em> (John 1:1). The final action in the history of the world will be Jesus handing the Kingdom over to the Father. In the history of our personal lives, salvation begins with Jesus and ends with our standing before Him Who is our judge. My Thought: Fr. Joe Rodrigues in a retreat he gave in Globe, Arizona, said that the word history means His Story, how true. </div>

David, our music minister at Monday night Prayer Group often asks us to call out what our favorite names of Our Lord is. Mine are Wonderful and Counselor. I found a super book about the names of Our Lord Jesus by Fr. Mike Scanlan, from the Franciscan University at Steubenville. Father has fifty-two names, of which my favorites are not included because he is using the New Testament only. In the next few blogs, I'll cover some of them alphabetically as Fr. Mike does.<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
ADVOCATE: Scripture 1John 2:1 <em>If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous One</em>. Key Thought: Jesus takes our case, represents us before the Father, pays the price for our redemption from sin, and intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. My Thought: The Holy Spirit is an Advocate also.<br />
<br />
the AMEN: Scripture Revelations 3:14<em> These things say the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.</em> Key Thought: Jesus was the Amen, the yes to the Father's plan. He willingly became man, suffered and died on the Cross because that was the Father's will for Him. My Thought: I am a better person because I understand what the Cross means to me.<br />
<br />
APOSTLE OF OUR PROFESSION: Scripture Hebrews 3:1 <em>Therefore holy brethren who share in the heavenly calling, consider Jesus the High Priest and Apostle of our Profession</em>. Key Thought: Jesus first gave His life as the Son of His Father, professing His faith, trusting all things from the Father's hands. He showed us the way and earned us the power and right to profess our faith as He did. My Thought: May I always say yes to His requests.<br />
<br />

This is another chapter (10) in the book I was previously discussing called "Faith and the Kingdom" by Emily Gardner Neal in her book <u>The Healing Power of Christ</u>. She asks a simple question of, "How can I acquire the faith necessary for healing?" Then states you can't acquire it, because it is a gift from God. This sends us on a search for finding examples of faith in the bible.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Having faith doesn't save us or heal us. In Acts 16:30 the jail keeper asks how he can be saved. Paul and Silas told him to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe in the miracles you read about in the bible, mostly Gospels. At Prayer Healing Ministry's Seminars we have countless miracles and record them in our Healing Notes. These are common, ordinary people who get healings from Jesus, not the leaders and speakers. We leaders do encourage and guide the participants for their healings, but that is acceptable. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
God wants our wills to be turned over to Him first. We will to believe in Him with our entire heart so our overriding desire is for more of God. he then will honor our will and our desire for total commitment to Him. Surround yourself as much as possible with believers: try to affiliate yourself with a prayer group, and attend healing services regularly. On the third Monday we have a healing mass at our charismatic prayer group. Fr. Abram anoints people after with holy oil. He will also bless oil, water, and salt for you to take home and, in turn, bless your house or work place. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take a thirty-day challenge to do nothing but praise Our Lord morning, noon, and night. Before getting out of bed, say "Good Morning, Lord!!!! How are you today? What's on Your agenda that I can be a part of?" Thank Him continually throughout the day and know He is helping you make decisions. Change your radio station to a Christian one, if you don't already. My daughter, Beth, was almost in a serious accident that would have taken her precious young life from me. She reacted quickly and avoided the accident. Then thanked His Protection around her. She also had her Christian station going. I often see a beautiful red mantle of protection on Jesus as I am praying for people. When I told this to a favorite priest I keep in prayer, he replied with a yes and this world is filled with danger.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In your prayer time, read the first Epistle of John which is filled with love. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your mind to the scriptures. Keep praying and keep asking. Always take time to thank for favors received, especially the little favors. Your prayer should become more mature in what you asked for previously and what you ask for now. Persevering prayer, the author says, is an act of obedience to Our Lord. It produces unshakable and unswerving faith in the goodness and mercy of God, who has assured us that "him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mrs. Neal says in the Our Father we ask for daily bread. We don't ask for a year's supply! We cannot store up God's faith and grace. Faith is not dependent on signs. Unbelievers as well as physically fit are healed. We do not know why some are physically and/or spiritually healed and others are not. We see that at our seminars all the time. To one man He said, "Your faith made thee whole." But to many others He healed unconditionally. Faith can come from the person laying on hands, friend, or person seeking healing. Miracles occur in direct proportion to the fervency with which we seek Our Lord. Your miracle will occur is your quest is Christ for His sake and not faith for faith's sake.</div>

This is another chapter from the book I discussed two days ago called <u>The Healing Power of</u> <u>Christ</u> by Emily Gardner Neal, 1972. As I said before, what was written many years ago is still true today. In this section she talks about how people can radiate Our Lord's love. I just realized her first name is Emily, which is my mom's name. I didn't notice that two days ago. </div>
<div align="justify">
The life of the Spirit, Mrs. Neal says, is the most exciting life on earth: one never knows what is around the corner in the way of revelation. The individual who is open to God is continually being astonished at the marvels He has in store for us and at the thrilling way He works out His plan in our lives. </div>
<div align="justify">
True joy is one side of the Christian coin: on the other side is suffering. Unless we share in the common suffering of the world which is also the suffering of Our Lord, we cannot enter into His joy. The early Christians went to their deaths singing joyous hymns of praise. As it was their joy in the face of persecution and martyrdom which resulted in the conversion two thousand years ago, so it is the same joy that effects conversion today. </div>
<div align="justify">
St. Paul says in Philippians, Chapter 4, verse 4, "Rejoice in the Lord always." These are words of healing and strength as well as thanksgiving. Paul also tells us in Romans (14:17) the Kingdom of God is righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. These three are inseparable and indivisible, Mrs. Neal continues. Our Yes to God is a continuous and ongoing process that will never cease as long as we live.</div>
<div align="justify">
We must be reborn as Nicodemus in John (3:4) asked about. Our Lord enunciates a formula of Christian baptism necessary for salvation. The majority of churches teach that in the sacrament of baptism we are born again, cleansed of sin, spiritually regenerated, and be made members of the Body of Christ. This rebirth is from Above of God. </div>
<div align="justify">
Rebirth can be equated with conversion. Conversion applies to someone who has never known Christ whereas the rebirth experience is for those who have known and believed in Him, but less than completely. When the experience of rebirth occurs suddenly, there is an unforgettable moment of glorious truth, occasioned by a love from the Holy Spirit. Heart, soul, mind and body unite. The grace of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) which you received in baptism comes to you in a new and fuller way. </div>
<div align="justify">
You then will feel the love given to you at His Crucifixion, overwhelmed by your love for Him, sorrow for your sins, and be aglow. We confront the living God in the altars of His church and enter into His joy. This happened to me at St. Francis de Sales Church in Tucson when a nun named Sr. Beatrice visited and anointed many people with oil. I felt the Holy Spirit's peace overwhelm me and have been smiling since. Whenever I can, I try to give it to someone else. </div>
<div align="justify">
</div>
<div align="justify">
Some other Scriptures that Mrs. Neal gave were (John 16:24), (1 Cor. 4:20), (2 Cor. 13:3), (1 Tim. 6:17), (Neh. 8:10), (John 3:3), (Luke 17:21), (John 3:4), (1 Pet. 1:8), (Ps. 16-!!).</div>

I am in the middle of reading a great book called, <u>The Healing Power of Christ</u>, by Emily Gardner Neal, published 1972. Chapter 15 is titled, "Are You Anxious or Afraid?" and deals with eliminating stress in our lives. Her advice from so many years ago holds true today. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mrs. Neal says that few of us are totally immune from anxiety. Our anxieties, like our depressions, range from being merely troublesome to complete incapacitation. We would keep out of trouble if we kept our eyes focused on Him. In Matthew 14:30, Peter took his eyes off Jesus and sank. We don't know how far under he went, but we know he must have been a good swimmer if he was a fisherman living on a boat. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anxiety, Mrs. Neal says, is the negation of the Spirit of God in us, for love, which is God, casts out fear (I John 4:18). The moment we are disobedient to God, the instant we break a spiritual law, we suffer the consequences, which are self-induced not God-produced. The Christian should live in the present. He should be informed by the past, but not agonize over it. You do what seems best to you at the time. It is done and over with. So forget it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As for our fear of the future, most often what we fear does not come to pass. Our Lord never promised His followers cake - only bread - the Bread of Life. There is no implication here that we should ever pray, "Give us cake and caviar and Cadillacs for the rest of our lives." Also, don't cancel your life insurance, you need it. Mrs. Neal was a born worrier and had to learn to turn all over to Him for His blessing, healing and guidance. This also does not mean that in your life there will never be trouble , anxiety, or tension. It does mean that these things will be caught up in the flood of God's love and mercy, moment by moment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyone can learn to enter the present moment and surrender. Ask God what He wants of you now. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual ears so you may hear what He wants to tell you. You will receive a peace that exists in your heart regardless of what happened in your past. It is an ineffable peace of the heart and spirit, which comes from knowing God and striving to live according to His will. It lies at the core of our being, and cannot be disturbed no matter what. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have seen so many people healed during our seminars for Prayer Healing Ministry. Come join us next time and be hugged by Him who loves you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I bought a coffee cup with a wonderful saying on it:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Peace - It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Ronny Jenkins, general secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and told him the reminder came as one of the visionaries was scheduled to tour U.S. parishes.<br /><br /> He said the reminder was being sent at the request of Archbishop Gerhard Muller, prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which has said it was not yet possible "to state that there were apparitions or supernatural revelations" by visionaries in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia.<br /><br /> The letter said the visionary, Ivan Dragicevic, would make presentations about Medjugorje, where six village children said they first saw Mary in June 1981. Archbishop Vigano's letter said, "It is anticipated, moreover, that Mr. Dragicevic will be receiving 'apparitions'" during his parish visits.<br /><br /> Most of the Medjugorje "seers" have said the apparitions have continued every day for years. Three say they still have visions each day, while the other three see Mary only once a year now. All six are now married and have children.<br /><br /> A blog on the National Catholic Register site said Dragicevic's U.S. tour was canceled after the letter was sent. The blog included a photocopy of the letter sent to Msgr. Jenkins, and <a class="linkun" href="http://www.catholicnews.com/"><span style="color: #990033;">Catholic News Service</span></a> confirmed the authenticity of the letter.<br /><br /> A Vatican commission of cardinals, bishops, theologians and other experts, working under the auspices of the doctrinal congregation, is studying the events at Medjugorje.<br /><br /> While the Vatican has said dioceses should not organize official pilgrimages to Medjugorje, it has said Catholics are free to visit the town and pray there, and that the Diocese of Mostar-Duvno and the town's Franciscans should organize pastoral care for them.<br /><br /> END<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04954166742373306854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6710028377269125149.post-80991369734904788242013-11-12T08:57:00.000-08:002013-11-12T08:57:00.132-08:00PRIEST WHO SAW HEAVEN, HELL, AND PURGATORY, PART 5<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Father’s Soul Returns To His Body</strong></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">While my body was at the hospital, the doctor completed all examinations and I was pronounced dead. The cause of death was bleeding. My family was notified, and since they were far away, the hospital staff decided to move my dead body to the morgue. Because the hospital did not have air conditioners, they were concerned that the body would decompose quickly. As they were moving my dead body to the morgue, my soul came back to the body. I felt an excruciating pain because of so many wounds and broken bones. I began to scream, and then the people became frightened and ran away screaming. One of them approached the doctor and said: “The dead body is screaming.” The doctor came to examine the body and found that I was alive. So he said: “Father is alive, it is a miracle! Take him back to the hospital.” Now, back at the hospital, they gave me blood transfusions and I was taken to surgery to repair the broken bones. They worked on my lower jaw, ribs, pelvic bone, wrists, and right leg. After two months, I was released from the hospital, but my orthopedic doctor said that I would never walk again. I then said to him: “The Lord who gave me my life back and sent me back to the world will heal me.” Once at home, we were all praying for a miracle. Still after a month, and with the casts removed, I was not able to move. But one day while praying I felt an extraordinary pain in my pelvic area. After a short while the pain disappeared completely and I heard a voice saying: <span style="color: red;">“You are healed. Get up and walk.” I felt the peace and healing power on my body. I immediately got up and walked. I praised and thanked God for the miracle</span>. I reached my doctor with the news of my healing, and he was amazed. He said: “Your God is the true God. I must follow your God.” The doctor was Hindu, and he asked me to teach him about our Church. After studying the Faith, I baptized him and he became Catholic. Following the message from my Guardian Angel, I came to the United States on November 10, 1986 as a missionary priest. I am currently the parish priest at <a href="http://www.stcatherinesiena.com/" target="_blank" title="sienna - Fr. Jose"><span style="color: mediumblue;">St. Catherine Of Sienna Parish in Orange Park, FL.</span></a></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04954166742373306854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6710028377269125149.post-84819498491722296782013-11-11T08:55:00.000-08:002013-11-11T08:55:00.921-08:00PRIEST WHO SAW HEAVEN, HELL, AND PURGATORY, PART 4<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Finally Heaven</strong></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Heaven Next, my angel escorted me to heaven passing through a big dazzling white tunnel. I never experienced this much peace and joy in my life. Then immediately heaven opened up and I heard the most delightful music, which I never heard before.<span style="color: red;"> The angels were singing and praising God. I saw all the saints, especially the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, and many dedicated holy Bishops and priests who were shining like stars.</span> And when I appeared before the Lord, Jesus told me: “I want you to go back to the world. In your second life, you will be an instrument of peace and healing to My people. You will walk in a foreign land and you will speak in a foreign tongue. Everything is possible for you with My grace..” After these words, the Blessed Mother told me: “Do whatever He tells you. I will help you in your ministries.” Words can not express the beauty of heaven.. There we find so much peace and happiness, which exceed a million times our imagination. Our Lord is far more beautiful than any image can convey. His face is radiant and luminous and more beautiful than a thousand rising suns. The pictures we see in the world are only a shadow of His magnificence.. The Blessed Mother was next to Jesus; She was so beautiful and radiant. None of the images we see in this world can compare with Her real beauty. Heaven is our real home; we are all created to reach heaven and enjoy God forever. Then, I came back to the world with my angel. </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04954166742373306854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6710028377269125149.post-85658629362768397212013-11-10T08:53:00.000-08:002013-11-10T08:53:00.848-08:00PRIEST WHO SAW HEAVEN, HELL, AND PURGATORY, PART 3<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Next Stop Purgatory</strong></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">After the visit to hell, my Guardian Angel escorted me to purgatory. Here too, there are seven degrees of suffering and unquenchable fire. But it is far less intense than hell and there was neither quarreling nor fighting. The main suffering of these souls is their separation from God.<span style="color: red;"> Some of those who are in purgatory committed numerous mortal sins, but they were reconciled with God before their death.</span> Even though these souls are suffering, they enjoy peace and the knowledge that one day they will see God face to face. I had a chance to communicate with the souls in purgatory. They asked me to pray for them and to tell the people to pray for them as well, so they can go to heaven quickly. When we pray for these souls, we will receive their gratitude through their prayers, and once they enter heaven, their prayers become even more meritorious. It is difficult for me to describe how beautiful my Guardian Angel is. He is radiant and bright. He is my constant companion and helps me in all my ministries, especially my healing ministry. I experience his presence everywhere I go and I am grateful for his protection in my daily life.</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04954166742373306854noreply@blogger.com0
